Pekingese are native to China.These small sized dogs are playful but not so energetic and does not need too much exercise.They would do well in small apartments but surely need the attention and time from their owners not to get bored.

This dog is for the experienced dog owner only! The breed is stubborn, independent, and after 11 years, still will not come when called. Despite all that, he IS a total character and a super watch dog, (how dare someone walk down the street in front of the house, or any animal even be on adjacent property!). He is also very barky, and that is after battling that bad habit for the entire time he has graced our home with his presence. Come to think of it, that is the perfect description of this dog's attitude. He seems to look at us like we are such curious creatures. "Throw the ball, and you want ME to get it for you???
As if ~ ". All while looking at me, his response to "come" is classic, "Yes, I hear you, but it is not convenient, nor do I wish to at this time". I may be hearing voices, but I could swear i can also hear him muttering under his breath, "and you can't make me!".
